Licious, a direct-to-consumer (D2C) brand specialising in meat and seafood, acquired the Bengaluru-based offline retailer ‘My Chicken and More,’ which has 23 stores across the city. This acquisition aims to accelerate Licious’ offline presence in South India, expanding its total number of stores in Bengaluru to 26.
The deal, involving both cash and equity, is reportedly valued at around Rs 200 crore. Licious, owned by Delightful Gourmet, previously operated three stores in Bengaluru. Co-founders Vivek Gupta and Abhay Hanjura noted that ‘My Chicken and More’ has demonstrated impressive revenue per store, profitability, and efficient supply chain operations, marking it as a well-run business.
Founded in 2007, ‘My Chicken and More’ has become a prominent regional player, expanding its outlets from 10 to 23 between 2021 and 2023, and generating approximately Rs 110 crore in revenue last year. The brand processes between 1.6 million and 1.8 million orders annually, with some stores attracting a monthly footfall of 10,000 to 12,000 customers.
S. Mahesha, founder of ‘My Chicken and More,’ emphasised that the partnership with Licious is not only about growth but also about a shared commitment to providing consumers with high-quality, hygienic meat, as per media reports.
Licious has established a robust online distribution model, reaching around 1.2 million consumers monthly via its app. Its flagship loyalty program, Infiniti, has garnered 200,000 active weekly subscribers, contributing to 58 per cent of its monthly business. Operating from five processing centers, Licious serves 20 cities through 100 delivery centers.
Looking ahead, Licious plans to enhance its omni-channel network, with ambitions to open 500 offline stores in key markets over the next few years.
