Major Announcements From Google I/O 2017

Google's annual developer conference took place on Wednesday (17 May). Google CEO Sundar Pichai announced many new features in-front of thousands of developers. Google I/O 2017 is a three-day conference from May 17 to May 20 in Mountain View, California.

David Burke, VP, Google said, "There are more than 2 billion monthly active Android devices globally. This is an extraordinary milestone and it's the largest reach of any computing platform of its kind". That includes smartphones, tablets, Android TV, Android wearable devices. He promised to make Android more useful, including a Beta release of Android O.

Daydream VR
Google announced that it would be launching Daydream VR (Virtual Reality) Headset which will work without a smartphone. They have partnered with HTC and Lenovo to develop standalone head mounted VR sets. Google is closely working with Qualcomm on the headset which won't require any cables, smartphone or PC. 

Google Photos
Introduced two years ago, Google Photos now have more than 500 million users every month. Google Photos is getting amazing additions this time. With the new feature Suggested Sharing, Google Photos will not only remind you to share- it will automatically select the right photos and even suggest who you should send them based on who was in the photos. 

Pichai showed that very soon Google will be able to remove unwanted objects from the pictures.

Smart Reply in Gmail

Reading to e-mails is easy but responding to them takes effort. Google came up with Smart Reply which saves time by suggesting quick responses to your responses. Smart Reply is available in Gmail Inbox and Allo.

Android O Beta
Google showcased Android O which is now globally available as part of Android O Beta Program. Some features of Android O are picture-in-picture which allows users to manage two tasks simultaneously, smart text selection, auto fill with Google. 

Google is working on Vitals in Android which is focused on optimizing battery life, startup time, graphic rendering time and stability.
