MoveInSync was born as a pivot when there were no takers for a car pooling app that the company had developed in Hyderabad in 2009. A fortuitous meeting with a client turned into a God-sent opportunity to turn the car-pool idea on its head and develop software that offers companies with a cost-effective and safe ecosystem of employee transportation services.
Today, the company’s Enterprise Transport Solution software is moving 100,000 people daily and is present in 15 cities across servicing more than 30 top clients.
MoveInSync has grown to be a 100 strong employee company which includes resources from sales offices as well.
I along with my IIT-BHU batchmates Akash Maheshwari, the COO and Anuvrata Arora, CTO, founded the company with the intention of bringing technology to the Indian transportation industry. We have had experience in the usage of technology in the transportation sector.
In the run-up to what it is today, MoveInSync was listed as Qualcomm India top eight in 2012 and received the ITSAP Best Enterprise Startup Jury award in both 2011 and 2012.
When most enterprises were struggling with their employees’ transportation, we started RideInSync, a simple carpool service in Hyderabad. But, the idea did not quite work the way we had figured as there were several issues with regard to safety, especially for women, and customer satisfaction.
After moving to employee transportation, similar issues persisted but they were able to overcome them with technology.
Solving the problem of moving people is different because in addition to cost, there are customer safety issues. We devised algorithms by using in-cab smart devices to capture on-road driver and passenger data. We also used cloud and mobile technologies to ensure the solution was both scalable and cost effective.
MoveInSync’s Employee Transportation Solution automates everything from calculating the shortest route to pick up and drop employees, real-time tracking of the vehicle to automated billing. It reduces wastage of time and promises route optimisation which leads to huge savings.
Having a first mover advantage, we remain the market leaders in this space. The SaaS based model is a patent pending technology which optimises productivity and carbon footprint. MoveInSync’s customers stand to save around one-fifth of travel time, thus helping increase productivity. For instance several studies have shown that in Bangalore, on an average, the workforce commutes 55 minutes one way. MoveInSync users have already reduced this time by ten minutes.
Today, their ETS (Enterprise Transport Solution) is being used by many Fortune 500 companies which acknowledge it to being an effective backbone. The service is used by companies with as little as 250 employees to companies with 25,000 or more employees. We are keen to facilitate cab sharing between companies, but these will succeed only when the companies share the same campuses and have similar timings-like in techparks
We have set up a clear road map ahead. Till now, we were offering only the software and devices that can be fitted into cabs. Going forward, the company plans to introduce end-to-end transportation service, which will benefit not only the corporate but also the cab vendors.
We recently raised US $3.5 million worth of Series A funding from Saama Capital, Inventus Capital and Qualcomm Ventures.
