An Odisha-based startup, Bon V Aero, has introduced a fully autonomous logistics drone, Air Orca, aimed at revolutionising India's logistics and emergency response sectors. Launched on November 10 in Bhubaneswar, the event saw the presence of venture capitalist Tim Draper, a notable figure in the startup ecosystem.
"This launch represents a significant step forward for India's logistics sector and our journey as an Odisha-based company," remarked Satyabrata Sathapathy, CEO of Bon V Aero. He highlighted that designing and manufacturing the drone in India has enabled customization for local needs. "With Tim Draper's support, we're encouraged to expand Air Orca’s applications across civilian and defence sectors nationwide," Sathapathy added.
Draper shared his excitement for the launch, emphasizing the practical uses of autonomous drones in modern logistics. "Air Orca provides solutions that extend reach and flexibility, crucial in scenarios like disaster response and high-altitude defence operations," he noted. Reflecting on recent hurricanes in the US, Draper expressed hope that Bon V Aero’s innovation could enhance global disaster relief efforts.
The Air Orca drone, designed and manufactured entirely in India, boasts advanced autonomous features that allow it to navigate complex logistical challenges in areas inaccessible by conventional transport. Specifically engineered for post-disaster deployment, the drone can deliver supplies and critical resources to hard-hit areas.
The startup plans to deploy Air Orca for various logistical applications, spanning healthcare, e-commerce, military logistics, and disaster management, on both domestic and global stages.
