Startup is young and a small company that is being developed and coming into the market. They are small and are operated by the individual or few founders. They also provide services and products that are not given anywhere in the market or that the founders believe is being offered.
Startups generally work to give answers and solutions to the questions that do not become a success.
Advantages of joining a startup:
More Rewarding- Initial Public Offering (IPO) is the most important thing. If your company fails to get successful and ends up, it might become a life changer for you if your stocks end up with the company. If you are a new employee of the company you’ll have to deal with the ups and downs and strengthen the roots of not seeing more and more drawbacks.
Personal Growth and Experience- This is the biggest benefit that you get when you join any startup. You can learn many more things while working for a startup. They also give you the opportunity to learn about your department as well as other departments too. They provide you with work and give you exposure.
Freedom- People who are creative and innovative are valued a lot in the startups. As long as your are working in the right direction you’ll get a lot of freedom. People can breath easy who like freedom while working, they won’t be bossed around and can work as they want to.
Excitement- The sheer excitement gives you a positive vibe to work. When you are working with a startup that is growing each and everyday with pride and gives you a good sense of accomplishment. And then you’ll never feel sad about the long working hours and a little bit of extra hard work.
Environment- Just like college a startups environment is exactly the same. No issues of dressing sense or dress code, other things that are associated with the college and are very cool. Playing with work and working in your own modern way, then work and environment seems to be chilled out and more interesting.
Disadvantages of joining a startup:High Risk- A lot of startups fail, as they have never planned to do so. Startup seeing a lot of failure must be because of a fallout between the co-founders and the founders, or running out of extra funds. It would be risky to join the startup in the middle or specially if its new to the market it would be more difficult for you to indulge in the startup and work properly.
Unstructured- Nothing is fixed. The way you are working, for whom you are working, your role, your job description, or whom you are reporting to etc. Nothing is fixed and permanent. If you are working then you need to show your transparency that means you need to be flexible enough to handle things and your should know how to play the team. Your professional responsibilities also add on as to have you take care of your work, and you are expected to do so. You might face a lot of difficulties but then there is no escaping out of it.
No Place To Hide- He/She can take his own sweet time to adjust in the environment and learn. You just need to try to disappear in the big MNC staff and make it easy for yourself. All the startups expect results from you from the very first day of your joining. Also, you will work with the small teams as well which means more connectivity and more of learning.
Lack Of Resources- Startups always try to run behind the big Cash-Flows, they try to bid to grab the bigger market source, etc. So, the other things would might have to take a back seat and stay there till they are needed.
More Demanding- You need to be ready for the house to be of fire. Long working hours, work from home, less leaves, working weekends, constant pressure etc may become a part of your work. You need to be mentally prepared of all this because some days your work might not give you rest at all and would ask you to keep working as much as you can.
