The Pandemic Has Offered Us A Massive Learning Opportunity: Mekin Maheshwari, Founder, Udhyam.org
The Coronavirus crisis has changed education forever. The pandemic has resulted in schools shut all across the world. Globally, over 1.2 billion students are out of the classrooms. As a result, education has changed dramatically, with the distinctive rise of online learning, whereby the teaching-learning process is undertaken remotely and on virtual platforms.
To have a discussion on these lines, a session was organized by Stirring Minds (a co-working space provider) on “Remote Learning And Future Of Education” which saw a panel of power-packed speakers: Prateek Shah, Founder and CEO, Digital Defynd (eLearning review platform); Balamurugan SP, Co-founder and CEO, GUVI.in; Mekin Maheshwari, Founder, Udhyam.org; Giri Balasubramaniam, Quizmaster and CEO, Greycaps (Asia’s onstage quizzing and knowledge services company) and Anil Nagar, Founder and CEO, Adda247 (education-technology company) . The session was moderated by Surabhi Dewra.
Commenting on the last 120 days of the pandemic, Prateek Shah, Founder and CEO, Digital Defynd, said that, “It’s been unnerving on a personal level, its been crazy on a professional level and silently everybody is just hoping to get this over.”
Talking about the business side, Anil Nagar, Founder and CEO, Adda247 remarked that, “Specially for ed-tech players, these have been exciting times and the last couple of months have really been very hectic for us in terms of evolving ourselves up to the new ecosystem, new environment and new learning needs of our learners.”
Giri Balasubramaniam, Quizmaster and CEO, Greycaps, underlined, “This is the best enforced unlearning program the world has ever had, we didn’t ask for it, we just had to embrace it and if you really look at it from a positive sense, it has accelerated several things, purely as a compulsion. We may not have adopted it otherwise.
“The pandemic has offered us a massive learning opportunity. There has been a lot of growth in a large number of areas, in terms of how to think about learning, but it also been a period where we have come face to face with the reality that not more than 15% students in government schools can today get online. We are fairly distant from the place where India could be learning completely online,” focused Mekin Maheshwari, Founder, Udhyam.org.
The session was a part of the three-day-long Startup Summit Live hosted by Stirring Minds. The summit came at a time when the world facing huge amounts of uncertainty in the way many industries operate. It aimed at bringing together change-makers to figure out the path ahead.
