CleverTap was founded in 2013 with the goal of helping businesses onboard, retain and engage their users better. The founding team met during their stint at Network18. The startup onboarded its first client – BookMyShow within 6 months of starting the company.
CleverTap combines App Analytics and User Engagement. The company’s clients use it to track app uninstalls, find out where users are dropping off in their product flows, and to send engaging campaigns. Product managers use CleverTap to view funnel & cohort reports. While Marketers use to reach out their users in real-time via push notifications, emails, in-app notifications, SMS, or web-push notifications.

Tell us about your entrepreneurial journey so far.
I’ve had several entrepreneurial stints. My most recent one was being the founder of burrp.com, which got acquired by Network18. Prior to burrp.com, I was based out of the US working for companies like AT&T Wireless and Motorola. My first entrepreneurial venture was assembling computers, and repairing printers in the mid-nineties.

We work with over 4000 global brands like Samsung, McDonalds, Sony, Hotstar, Astro, Zomato, BookMyShow, DC Comics, Curiosity, Denver Broncos, and many more. Our client base is spread across 100 countries.

Marketing and expansion strategy to drive expansion.
Our marketing strategy is to showcase how we help rapidly growing apps analyze user behavior, and engage users in real-time. For e.g. one of the world’s largest Telco relied on CleverTap as they acquired 100 million users in less than 6 months.
We’re chasing the mobile growth from east to west. Today we have a coverage of over a billion devices across all our clients.
Expansion plans to U.S.
We’re making rapid inroads in the US market. Currently, we have an 11 people team, including our CEO, who sit out of the US office. We’ve count some notable brands like Curiosity, Hooked On Phonics, Deals Plus, Streamago, Hello.com, Denver Broncos and Carrie Underwood as our clients.

We’re currently running pilots with some leading brands in the entertainment space in the world. Apart from entertainment, our solution also works for brands in the fin-tech, travel & ticketing, event ticketing, media, ecommerce space.
Most of our current customers were acquired in the last 18 months, and we’re looking to onboard our next 4000 a lot sooner.
