Aastha Singh, CEO & Founder, Gramshree Agri Services, has been a trailblazer in the agricultural sector, determined to bridge the gap between traditional farming practices and modern agri-business solutions. Her vision to create a trusted brand for healthy livestock and agricultural services has been instrumental in shaping the future of rural India. Gramshree’s mission goes beyond profit; it focuses on empowering rural communities, especially in Bihar, where the company plans to open micro agri-business centres in all 538 blocks by 2026-27.

Singh plans to expand into states like Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand by FY 2026-27. Through the establishment of low-cost enterprise models, she aims to build a sustainable agricultural ecosystem. Additionally, Gramshree’s master agri-business centre will serve as a training hub, demonstration farm, and central warehousing facility, ensuring farmers are equipped with the knowledge and resources they need. The company also leverages digital platforms to connect with end users, ensuring efficient last-mile delivery of livestock, inputs, and equipment.

The Challenges
Despite the rapid growth, Gramshree Agri Services has faced significant challenges. One major obstacle was the need for more working capital to scale faster and expand the business. Building logistics and distribution channels for livestock and equipment delivery also presents logistical hurdles. Additionally, educating farmers to diversify into areas like aquaculture and animal husbandry, while encouraging the adoption of technology, remains a top priority for the company.

On a personal level, Singh’s journey as a woman entrepreneur in agriculture has not been without its own set of challenges. Gender bias remains a persistent issue, especially in states like Bihar, where cultural barriers limit women in leadership roles. Singh has also struggled with access to essential resources such as funds, manpower, and technology. Networking, which is crucial for business growth, has been another hurdle due to societal norms that often limit women’s access to formal business networks.

Leadership & Innovation
Yet, Singh’s leadership and innovation have been pivotal in overcoming these barriers. Her agricultural initiatives are not just business ventures but catalysts for community development. By promoting sustainable farming practices and creating job opportunities, Gramshree has positively impacted local economies. Singh is also deeply committed to empowering women in agriculture, offering them opportunities in roles ranging from cultivation to management, thereby promoting gender equality and inclusivity in the sector.

Under Singh’s leadership, Gramshree Agri Services continues to champion environmental stewardship through eco-friendly farming techniques and resource conservation. Her focus on sustainable growth has not only helped the company thrive but also contributed to preserving biodiversity and promoting responsible agribusiness practices. Singh’s journey, marked by resilience and adaptability, stands as a testament to her capabilities as an agri-entrepreneur, making her an inspirational figure in India's agricultural landscape.
