Description and Idea GenerationThe product “ Evive ” is launched by Agilo Technologies being the parent company.
Evolution of evive is a different story. Back in 2013, while working for a robotics competition, we felt the need for a one-stop robot debugging solution. We developed it and kept it to ourselves till 2015, when we decided to bring it to a wider community. A little brainstorming encouraged us to include learning and making features in the device. Gradually, through all the technological improvements, evive was born as a one-stop technological solution for learning, making and research in the field of robotics and embedded systems.
Ours is a technology driven startup which believes in knowledge assets. Besides evive, we've also developed an innovative trash compaction device to solve garbage collection problems in India. A patent has been filed for the same.
Special FeaturesAgilo Technologies is focusing on developing a community around evive by open-sourcing it. While our other products are driven by intellectual property and provide exclusivity. This will allow us to reach a wider audience, will allow innovators to contribute to further improvements in evive and will establish Agilo Technologies as a premier technology innovation company in the market with substantial intangible assets.
We are focusing more on building a large community with evive rather than building massive revenue. This reputation will help Agilo in it's future products by aligning consumer trust and expectations in its favor while deepening its roots in innovation market.
Differentiation FactorsOur strategy is neither purely revenue driven nor purely community driven, it's a clever sequential mixture of both. By developing trust of innovators around the world, Agilo will be able to channelize their expectations in its favor.
Coming to Evive, it is one of a kind product which caters to all stages of making. It's uniqueness lies in the wide variety of applications it can cater to- from helping students in learning and making projects to performing research using it's advanced features. There are platforms for learning or prototyping but there isn't a single solution to satisfy all needs of a maker.
Challenges FacedThe biggest challenge was our inexperience in mass manufacturing, supply chains, sales and marketing. But we figured out ways to tackle them while our product development itself. The other challenge was managing studies with startup. But it was easy, if you put your mind to it, you’ll be able to get through. Though a double life takes away the freedom of working full time in a startup, but that does no harm except expanding the time scales of working.
Funding and Monetization DetailsWe're bootstrapping and haven't raised any money yet. We're going for crowdfunding to meet mass manufacturing expenses for evive. We'll open up for funding only after the campaign, while going for a dealership network and team expansion.
We'll monetize by sales of evive. For other products, we'll monetize by leasing/selling intellectual property or by direct sales.
Traction DetailsAccurate traction details cannot be provided as we've not started pre-booking or marketing campaign for evive yet. But we can give an estimate of how well people are liking it. We already have close to hundred mailing list subscribers for product launch. Our performance across various platforms without paid advertisements or PR has been pretty good.
We've gathered more than 750 followers on Facebook in less than two months, organic post reach for last week crossed 6000. Our one-week old YouTube channel has close to 3000 views in total with more than 50% of them from outside India. 4 out of our 9 projects based on evive have been featured by Instructables and we have a total view-count close to 7000 in a month.
Market Size and OpportunityThe innovation and research market is too huge and widespread to be measured. There are around 135 million individual adult makers in United States alone, excluding children and teens interested in STEM and tinkering. The maker movement pumps in roughly $29 billion in the US economy every year. And this excludes research and development facilities with universities, governments and industries, which is even bigger. Transforming the way people innovate and the way they build new products will have a very profound impact on technology course of humanity.
